Form Work

FORMWORK (SHUTTERING FOR METRO, BRIDGE, AND PRECISE)

  1. Purpose and Use of Formwork. The formwork serves as a mould for concrete structural components unless such mold is provided by the soil, other structural components, etc. It molds the placed fresh concrete, which in this stage normally is viscous, to the shape specified in the drawing.
  2. Formwork is temporary or permanent molds into which concrete or similar materials are poured. In the context of concrete construction, the falsework supports the shuttering molds.
  3. Steel Formwork consists of panels fabricated out of thin steel plates stiffened along the edges by small steel angles. The panel units can be held together through the use of suitable clamps or bolts and nuts. The panels can be fabricated in large numbers in any desired modular shape or size. Steel forms are largely used in large projects or in a situation where large number reuses of the shuttering are possible. This type of shutter is considered most suitable for circular or curved structures.
